Your answer makes a lot of sense. Thank you for answering so quickly and so clearly.
Yesterday morning I turned off my GE dehumidifier because it had reached the 50% level I had set, and because I didn't want to keep the fan running. This morning before I received your email, I went back to the basement to find the humidity had risen to 80% just in 24 hours.
After your response, I decided to keep the GE dehumidifier I recently bought, and let unit run continuously.
