Thanks so much for your wonderful information. I've got a heated finished basement, and decided to try the 50 pint Frigidaire from a local appliance store who gave me a bit of a break on the price. It did turn on this time and so I'm happy I now have something, and realize the first Frigidaire must have been defective. I am now familiar with all types of dehumifiers, and the Santa Fe would be a wonderful option if that was a little less expensive and I needed it to work in low temps.
